In serum-free cell culture systems, transferrin is a core functional component that mediates iron ion transport and maintains cell proliferation and metabolic homeostasis. Iron-saturated (holo) transferrin directly delivers bioavailable bound iron to cells without additional iron supplementation, making it particularly suitable for media formulations with low basal iron content and effectively streamlining formulation development. Traditional plasma-derived transferrin presents inherent limitations in source variability, biosafety risks and batch-to-batch inconsistency, making it difficult to meet the compliance and stability requirements of industrial-scale production.
Manufactured via recombinant Pichia pastoris eukaryotic expression and purification with a fully animal-free production process, ART202S recombinant human holo transferrin eliminates blood-source related risks at the source. Presented in iron-saturated holo form carrying two bound iron ions, it can be directly applied to various serum-free cell culture systems, supporting the development and large-scale manufacturing of chemically defined culture media.
The fully non-human, animal-free recombinant expression process ensures clear source traceability and full manufacturing control. It fully aligns with global regulatory expectations for chemically defined media raw materials. Complete quality documentation is available to support customers in process submission and CMC dossier preparation.
The iron-saturated holo form carries two bound iron ions, delivering directly bioavailable iron to cells without the need for additional iron salt supplementation in the media. It effectively simplifies formulation design, avoids oxidative stress and system instability caused by free iron ions, and facilitates faster process locking.
A strict release testing standard is in place, with every batch tested for multiple critical indicators including appearance, pH, purity, protein content, loss on drying and endotoxin. Controlled variation of key quality parameters across batches effectively reduces process validation costs and ensures stable, repeatable culture performance in large-scale production.
Standard packaging options include 100mg, 1g, 10g and 100g, with customized packaging specifications available upon request. It covers dosage requirements across the entire lifecycle, from laboratory process development and pilot scale-up to commercial mass production.
